Learn how Choicely's AI App Builder creates native mobile apps from websites in minutes, as discussed by CEO Kaius Meskanen at Google's event in Stockholm.
How can businesses create AI-powered applications quickly and efficiently?
This was one of the main themes at the Google Cloud Summit Nordics 2025 in Stockholm. Choicely CEO Kaius Meskanen spoke at the event about how Choicely developed an AI-powered version of its no-code app builder.
For the past five years, Choicely has been developing its app builder, which is used by world-class brands in sports, media, and entertainment – from the Eurovision Song Contest to the Italian Winter Sports Federation and Love Island TV shows across multiple countries.
Now, thanks to its AI-powered app builder, Choicely users can build and publish a native mobile app faster than ever before – even in just one day.
Meskanen’s speech followed that of Lingyi Tan, Generative AI Field Solutions Architect at Google Cloud.
Tan discussed how to take an AI agent from proof of concept to production. Her key advice was to start from value, add capabilities progressively, and constantly iterate and evaluate the solution.
She explained how Google helps kickstart AI exploration, transferring knowledge and skills to internal teams. Then, teams can launch their MVP, take the lead, develop the AI product further, and expand its impact.
Choicely’s AI journey is a prime example of this approach.
This year, Choicely developed a new AI-powered layer into its platform using Google Gemini 2.5 Pro. The first version of Choicely AI App Builder launched this spring, enabling businesses to convert their website into an app in just two minutes while benefiting from the platform’s flexible and versatile builder.
“I'm going to tell you about our use case, how we built our AI agent from POC to production. The first phase was like five weeks,” said Meskanen as he took the stage.
Choicely is a no-code app development platform where you can build native mobile apps in a fraction of the time and cost.
“Now with the power of AI, we can really put the whole process into one day,” Meskanen emphasized.
“You can give, for example, the AI your website URL. It will convert your website into a native mobile app in about two minutes. Then you can finalize your application in our drag-and-drop builder and publish it in Google Play and App Store the very same day.”
“Why are we focused on native mobile applications?” Meskanen asked, and answered: “Because people use their mobile phones and tablets almost five hours a day, and 90% of that time is spent in native mobile apps, with only 10% in mobile browsers like Chrome and Safari.”
With AI innovations emerging daily, Meskanen believes almost any business should explore how native apps can enhance the user experience and customer interaction.
Should businesses just build a website or also create a mobile app? Meskanen says the best strategy is to have both. Websites and apps serve different purposes, but apps are especially valuable for customers deeply engaged with your products or services.
“Now I'm going to show you a one-minute video on how apps are built,” said Meskanen.
“You can basically start in the morning, do it alone or with your team, workshop your ideas, and go through the steps to publishing your product,” he described.
“Our platform is fully open, so you can integrate anything you’ve custom-coded or created with AI – maybe using Firebase Studio or any of the new tools that generate code and features. There are no limitations on our platform.”
In just the first two minutes, the AI agent performs 95% of the work needed to build a mobile app for Android and iOS.
“We have a standardized set of code for iOS and Android,” Meskanen pointed out.
When the AI agent scrapes the website, it pulls data, logos, colors, and structures, converts them into JSON, and recreates them as native iOS and Android apps on the Choicely platform. The AI doesn’t write any code itself – it reassembles content and data to make it compatible with Choicely.
“This is all live on Choicely.com. You can try it today,” Meskanen highlighted.
“Then the last 5%.”
What happens after the AI agent builds the first version? A fully branded Android and iOS app is created with logos, content, images, and structure, which can then be edited and refined. Users can change layouts and structures using the drag-and-drop Choicely Studio.
“If you have a vision of what you want to build, you can build it really fast,” Meskanen said.
If users want advanced features, such as those coded themselves or created with AI, or integrations like SDKs, Shopify stores, or Ticketmaster pages, it’s all possible.
When ready, users can test their app by scanning a QR code with Choicely’s mobile app, seeing exactly how it will look and behave once published.
“Once you're done with all the different changes, then you can publish the application. Now you need to take some time to create a Google Play and App Store account,” Meskanen explained.
Those with publishing experience know this stage takes time. After creating app store accounts, publishers connect them to Choicely, upload branding materials, app screenshots, and promotional texts to tell users why they should download the app. Finally, it’s time to publish.
“Same evening, have a drink with your friends. Maybe the next day or the day after, the app is live in Google Play and App Store, and everyone can start downloading it,” Meskanen described.
“Here is a little bit more of the architecture of the AI engine. We're using Gemini 2.5 Pro in the background,” Meskanen explained, showcasing the architecture.
“We have a pretty elaborate structure for the prompts and how the AI agent works.”
“After those magical two minutes, we use Google Cloud extensively. We’re using at least ten different components in Google Cloud – and cybersecurity – in a very native way.”
“You get an app that is super secure, can handle millions of simultaneous users, and can adapt to anything – and you get it really quickly. As we're entering a world with daily AI launches, we strongly recommend that you don't plan on custom coding basic apps for six months or any months. Rather, put your efforts into the unique features, maybe AI-built or custom-built, that you can insert into ready-made applications.”
“A few words about our AI roadmap. What we have live right now on Choicely.com, you can test it – we call it Choicely AI 1.0. We’re going to continuously improve the applications you get during those two minutes, enriching their structure.”
“In a world where there are AI launches every day, we recommend that you don't custom code the basic apps for six months or any months. Rather put your efforts on your unique features that you can just insert in ready-made applications.”
“We’ll enhance the AI’s ability to understand what type of website it’s converting and what structures to create on the first run. We’re also launching our own SDKs this fall. This isn’t directly AI-related, but it will help technical teams use Choicely. We’re also working on tools to generate content easily with AI inside the apps.”
“We’re making it even easier to build new features with AI, for example with Firebase Studio, and to launch them right away in the ready-made applications.”
“We’re increasing the AI’s capabilities within Choicely Studio so you can start talking to the AI, and it will handle app building, functions, and updates for you.”
“Thank you very much! If you want to try Choicely AI, it's live right now on Choicely.com.”
